Meet the Managers

Megan Peters

Studio Manager

What’s your favorite medium of art? Why?

Mixed media, mostly magazine, paper, and paint. It's easy to use at home and working with the different pieces of paper feels like a puzzle I'm trying to solve.

Who is your favorite artist(s)? Why?

Frank Stella, I have always been drawn to geometric abstraction and enjoy his use of color. Barret Lee, he is an artist I found on Instagram. I love his whimsical characters and the diversity of personalities he is able to portray within them. Lily Lund is another artist I found on Instagram. Her pottery is full of color and different layers of texture.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I changed my mind a lot, but I mostly wanted to be a teacher, baker, or engineer.

What’s your go-to coffee/tea order?

Depends on where I'm at, I don't like my coffee to sweet. My Starbucks order is a Venti honey almond milk flat white, any of the flavored cold brews are solid options as well.

What mythical creature do you relate most to? Why?

Does a minion count? They are happy go lucky, don't really know what's going on most of the time, try their best, thoughtful in their own way, obsessed with food, and like to party. That pretty much sums me up.

What’s your comfort TV show?

I don't tend to re-watch shows, but my current go to is Criminal Minds

You’re at karaoke. What’re you singing?

I love singing and would be down for anything but Taylor the Latte Boy by Kristin Chenoweth and Lady Like by Ingrid Andress would be some top choices.

If you had to eat any color of crayon, which one would you eat? Why?

Yellow, it's my favorite color and "banana" flavored Popsicles are great

What advice would you give to the artists out there?

Don't stress it, do what makes you happy regardless of the outcome.

What’s your favorite medium of art? Why?

Sculpture; specifically ceramics. I love getting to use my hands and the physicality of the medium.

Who is your favorite artist(s)? Why?

Alina Szapocznikow because it's hard not to love someone when you write a whole thesis about them, but more so her translation of sculptural feminine bodies into a fragmented portraiture of trauma. Sol LeWitt; I was introduced to his large sculptural works on my college campus and fell in love with his concept of making work for that transcends a single artist while writing my coursework capstone (I also got to work on the conservation of one of his concrete walls). Jenny Saville, Morris Louis, Jackson Pollock, Gabriel Dawe, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Costas Tscolis, Thomas Evans….I could go on and on, but I’ll stop now.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Would really depend how old I was when you asked me, but mostly an astronaut.

What’s your go-to coffee/tea order?

At home it’s hot black coffee. If I’m ordering somewhere: iced coffee, hot lavender latte, caramel latte, or a London fog.

Show us your favorite gif.

I’m a rule breaker. I have two:

What mythical creature do you relate most to? Why?

Manticores….lawful evil is my preferred alignment in DND lately.

What’s your comfort TV show?

Futurama.

You’re at karaoke. What’re you singing?

First of all….I would never willing participate in karaoke. Second of all Shake Ya Tailfeather by Diddy, Nelly, and Murphy Lee.

If you had to eat any color of crayon, which one would you eat? Why?

I feel like the answer to this is obviously the Crayola Macaroni and Cheese...?

What advice would you give to the artists out there?

Try anything twice. Other disciplines such as history, art history, science, philosophy, literature, engineering all feed into your making; explore everything.
