LIBBY MILLS
Virginia Beach, VA
After a full career, I reached a point where I didn't work. I became a self-taught artists. I love using a variety of media to produce a creation. I am inspired from many influences: life experiences, nature, reading, and even interacting with others.
I grew up doing art with my father and as a teen, once a month, I visited the museum Munson Williams-Proctor Institute in Utica, NY. The museum held the works by Thomas Cole, "The Voyage of Life." I was in love with the incredible painting my father and Thomas Cole did; the details in the places, people, plants, and animals.
It sparked a lifelong dream to develop art and passion for creating art in many forms. But my deepest love came from doing drawings and paintings with my father. His creative mind is what truly stayed with me to develop my skills.

TENNICIA WHITE
Hampton, VA
Tennicia White is a 37 year old mother of four boys. She resides in the the city of Hampton, VA. Author of a "POETS WAY FOR JUSTICE" and author of "BENT NOT BROKEN". She is also the administrator for the group Healing Art!!! on Facebook.
This skill and technique of painting came to me as a coping skill through some storms and trauma in my life. Overcoming the barriers of sexual assault and homelessness. I finally have a new home and am regaining my peace. Although I do many crafts and arts, I never took to painting, but one day everything was too much, I was ready to explode. I needed to get out.
I pick up a canvas and some paint. Pouring out silently from the inside, showing up loudly on the outside, I begin to allow myself to find healing and let go. In this piece is My Peace. My New Beginning. I wanted this piece, through colors, to show and let out all those feelings, emotions, like love hurt, paint and trauma. At the same time I wanted to show the lights, grace, mercy and favor. By creating broken and cracked paint using resin, acrylic paints, and water, I believe this piece to be those and show all of those. Trauma is real, but so is healing...we all heal and overcome things differently, but the thing that makes us all the same is WE STILL HAVE BEAUTY and cracked and shattered pieces can still be a masterpiece; a new beginning!!

“My work is a creative self-journey made from my soul to share with anyone who wants to look. I love to play with color, texture, and open to working with many mediums to create whatever it is that I am compelled to create in those moments of expression. I proceeds a lot of my emotions through painting and share my own world and the way I see it lately my works has been an expression of emotions and processing major life changes. Making Art has saved me in so many ways. It helps me shut off my thoughts and escape into a reality I have control of.”
