I am the owner of Uncommon Redesigns and a Houston native currently living in Florida. Like most of you, I have watched helplessly as my beautiful city deals with this unfortunate disaster (Hurricane Harvey). I knew I wanted to do something, but I wanted it to be bigger than what my small business could provide. I started Redesign to Rebuild Houston.
Redesign to Rebuild Houston is a project created to provide redesigned/custom wood furniture and decor to the Houston victims that have lost everything due to Hurricane Harvey. Harvey has caused many displaced Houston families, while flood water destroys their homes and possessions. Once the water recedes, families will have to rebuild their lives, some from scratch. The Redesign to Rebuild Houston Project (RTRHP) wants to help these families by providing furniture and home décor items at no cost. We are rallying furniture redesigners and identifying families that have encountered total loss. This project will start in Tampa, FL where furniture donations will be collected and will travel to Houston stopping along the route to pick up furniture donations from participating designers. When we arrive in Houston, we will unload and sort donations based on delivery. The plan is to provide families with furniture to fill their homes before Thanksgiving 2017.
Receive furniture/decor donations from redesigners. Monetary donations will be applied to travel cost.
Families will be selected. The more donations we receive the more families we can serve.
Selected families will be able to select their choice of furniture online.
In early November, we will have a special Load Day event in Tampa, FL. We will load all donations. Breakfast will be provided.
After all donations are loaded, we will start our journey to Houston, TX! Stopping along the way to pick up donations from participating designers.
When we arrive in Houston, we will host a delivery day similar to Load Day. Furniture will be sorted and loaded in each driver's truck for delivery. Breakfast will be provided.
When all furniture has been sorted, Drivers will head to the designated family's home.
Once the drivers arrive to the family's home they will deliver and set up the furniture.
